Areas of Practice

Anxiety

It is normal to experience occasional anxiety, but when anxiety becomes persistent, uncontrollable, and overwhelming, you may want to seek professional support. I will provide education on anxiety, explore thinking patterns that are contributing to anxious thinking and assist with developing healthy coping skills. I will incorporate inventions from CBT, ACT and MBCT to address anxiety.

Depression

Many people will experience feelings of sadness and being low in mood, but when these feelings are pervasive or it begins to interfere with your daily functioning, you may want to seek additional support. I can offer psychoeducation on depression, encourage behavior activation, explore and challenge thinking patterns contributing to depression and assist with identifying and developing healthy coping skills. I incorporate elements from CBT, ACT and MBCT to address depression.

Life adjustments/transitions

Are you experiencing any of the following recent life changes:

*Relationship and/or role changes (i.e. entering a new relationship, contemplating staying in a relationship, going through a separation/divorce, becoming a parent, becoming a caregiver for a loved one, experiencing the loss of loved one, etc)?

*Career changes (i.e. transitioning into a career or new job, loss of job, changing careers, planning for and/or entering retirement, etc)?

*Change in health (i.e. new health diagnosis for yourself or a loved one)?

We often resist change as it brings varying degrees of uncertainty and apprehension, although change is inevitable. Some changes are unpredictable and others may be anticipated but still difficult to accept and/or adjust to. I am here to help you navigate through your life change so you can continue to pursue the life that has meaning and value for you.

Chronic Health and Chronic Pain

Do you feel your life has dramatically changed due to your chronic health/chronic pain? Do you feel unable or uncertain about how to cope with these changes? I can help you to understand how changes in your physical health impact your mental and emotional well-being. I will help you feel heard with your personal struggles while encouraging you to build acceptance of the change in order to create a life that is meaningful for you. I incorporate aspects of CBT, ACT and MBCT in my approach with Chronic Health and Chronic Pain struggles.

Cancer

Have you or a loved one recently been diagnosed with cancer or in the recovery stages of cancer? The challenges cancer survivors and their loved ones face are unique and incomparable. I will offer a safe space for you to process your fears, worries and concerns. I will help with identifying a “new normal” that is meaningful for you.

Trauma and PTSD

Most people will experience an event in their lifetime that is traumatic to them. Some individuals are able to process and heal from their traumatic event, while others may feel stuck in that moment and struggle to heal on their own. I can support you through this healing process by exploring how the trauma has impacted your perception of yourself and the world and assist with identifying new ways to reframe the trauma. I incorporate CBT and CPT for trauma and PTSD treatment.
